Maintenance of holiday homes is essential. A clean, welcoming and well maintained holiday home will not only ensure you avoid any guest complaints, it will increase your chance of repeat bookings and recommendations. Whether you hold a facilities management role or you own multiple holiday lets of you own our latest blog is all about how to reduce the hassle of holiday lettings.
1) Changeover cleans
By treating holiday home occupants in the same way that you would tenants of any other property it ensures that property standards don’t slip. Just as when other tenants vacate a property it is essential to ensure that things are clean before new visitors arrive, regardless of how tight the timeframe. Here at GMC we have trusted cleaning contractors across the UK, so you don’t need to waste valuable time searching for a cleaner when the time comes.
2) Cleaning and linen
When it comes to cleaning, holiday homes provide an extra challenge. Towels and bedding provided will often need to be washed and changed between tenants (or mid stay). That’s why we also offer a optional linen service when it comes to our nationwide cleaning – giving you one less thing to worry about.
3) Gardens and property exteriors
In addition to keeping holidays homes pristine on the inside, you also want to ensure the outside is taken care of. Take into consideration regular lawn mowing, pruning of bushes and most essentially the cleaning of patio/decking areas to avoid any potential safety hazards.
4) Proactive property inspection
We understand the challenge of managing multiple properties, especially if you’re not based locally. Unlike long term tenants, holiday visitors are unlikely to voice little issues (that is, until they become big ones). For example, you might have a loose curtain rod but chances are you won’t hear about it until it’s actually fallen down. To prevent you from such issues our cleaners become your eyes and ears, and they’ll let us know of any areas in need of some TLC or a quick repair (and as we’re your total property solution we’ll step in to sort it out as soon as you give us a go ahead).
5) Legal requirements
Just as with any other property letting it is essential that holiday homes also have an annual gas safety inspection. To save you the hassle of remembering when yours is due we offer a fixed fee gas safety inspection that we will reschedule on an annual basis on your behalf. The same goes with regular PAT testing for electrical appliances. In addition, don’t forget NICEIC electrical inspections, even though these last for 5 years we’re able to book you in for when the next one is due.
4) Emergency backup
Burst pipes or broken boilers can wreak havoc on a holiday let, and can be hard to handle if you don’t have a recommended professional on standby. With only one call to our maintenance team we can organised a Gas Safe or Oftec engineer to sort out the problem.
5) Going the extra mile
Our job is making your job easier. Improving the experience of your visitors and increasing the chance of their return is part of that. We’re able to provide auxiliary services specifically suited to holiday home requirements including a local keyholder and welcome packs containing basic food items and everyday cleaning supplies (washing up liquid, bin bags etc).
Our property maintenance services are truly national. With only one call you can trust that your property maintenance needs are in the hands of the GMC team (regardless of your location). Whether you need some urgent property maintenance work or would like a quote for a future project please get in touch on 01903 721020 or email info@genmaint.co.uk.
