For both Relocation companies and Landlords with multiple properties the most important factor is keeping properties occupied. Ensuring your properties are spring cleaned at the end of a tenancy will help maximise rental prospects. To help you make the most of your end of tenancy cleans this blog shares our property spring cleaning advice.
Make the most of end of tenancy cleans
When tenants vacate a property take advantage of the opportunity to spring clean. As a landlord it will allow you to tackle any issues which may have built up over the duration of the tenancy, and will ensure that the property is made appealing to potential tenants.
As part of a property spring clean it’s important to consider the following areas:
Deep cleaning of kitchens and bathrooms
These two areas will have the most significant impact on the desirability of a property, and the satisfaction of new occupants once they move in. Professional cleaning will help remove any build-up of dirt and grime that is both unpleasant for tenants and can damage surfaces and appliances such as ovens or microwaves.
Clearing blocked drains
By dealing with blocked drains and the build up of limescale it helps prevent plumbing issues and the subsequent inconvenience caused for both the Landlord and future tenants.
Cleaning of flooring
Vacuuming and mopping of flooring is an essential part of regular cleaning. When it comes to an end of tenancy clean it’s important to identify any stains (particularly on carpets) which will require either spot cleans, or a full carpet clean.
Dusting and paying attention to details
When moving into a new property, tenants don’t want to encounter traces of previous occupants. As well as removing cobwebs and cleaning windows as part of the spring clean, it is important to make sure particular attention is made to cleaning window sills, skirting boards, door frames and tops of cupboards. If you’re a relocation company letting furnished homes for your client’s employees, ensure you also clean behind headboards and between sofa cushions.
Getting other maintenance jobs out of the way
The exterior of your properties are just as important as the interior, and should not be overlooked when it comes to an end of tenancy clean (read our previous blog on spring cleaning your gardens). Additionally, take this opportunity to remedy any maintenance issues such as loose door hinges or rickety bannisters. If you’re managing numerous properties it can be hard to stay on top of individual property requirements. To help you GMC will pass on any issues spotted by our cleaners, and oversee any maintenance or repair work required.
